Transport
There are a number of industries that undertake Transport of Radioactive Materials by road, sea, air or rail. This transport is often necessary to achieve the task at hand and the work cannot be achieved without the timely movement of these radioactive materials.
Whether you are a logistics company (either a freight forwarder and/or carrier) undertaking transport activities for clients or simply undertaking transport of your own goods, the safe transport of radioactive materials can be crucial to your operations.

The Regulations surrounding the Transport of Radioactive Materials can often be seen as complicated and so you are required to appoint a suitable Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) to advise on how to undertake transport activities safely and legally.
The Transport of Radioactive Materials is also considered a practice under IRR17/IRR(NI)17 in the UK and other countries national legislation, so you are also required to appoint a suitable Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) (called the Qualified Expert in some countries).
At L2, we undertake the roles of the RPA and the DGSA and can provide essential advice and assistance in relation to your transport activities. We have significant experience in this sector, ranging from the movement of sealed sources, radiopharmaceuticals, radioactive waste, nuclear materials or High Consequence Dangerous Goods (HCDG) (sometimes called High Consequence Radioactive Material (HCRM)). We use our experience to provide sound advice and clarify any queries you have regarding your radioactive materials transport activities.
