There is increasing use of Ionising Radiation within the Security Sector relating to use of X-Ray Security Scanners for a range of secure or sensitive facilities (such as prisons, airports, defence establishments, etc.) and public mass attendance events like concerts, conferences or sporting events to ensure prohibited items are not contained in baggage, packages and cargo. More use is now being made of Computed Tomography (CT) X-Ray Scanners but also handheld X-Ray Imaging Systems for suspicious packages.
